I’m looking for an electrician to fix some problems with the house so I thought I’d post a job on one of the find-a-tradie websites. Their IOS app didn’t work so I figured I’d do it from my PC and attach a few photos to my job. Normally I’d use Airdrop to bring the photos over but it seems that in this case it’ll be easiest to use good old-fashioned copper.

I was surprised when I plugged in my iPhone (iOS 16.6.1) it mounted to Ubuntu 22.04, only requiring me to tell the iPhone to trust this computer. It-just-worked which I’m pretty impressed with. I could access .JPG photos from the DCIM folder. Although it only had a few photos, somehow they were the ones I needed. I imagine it’d be harder to access old photos, especially since some may have to be retrieved from iCloud.
